Blok Design is a Toronto-based design studio that creates a wide range of work from photography books to store interiors. There work is very good and the books they produce are something I'd be interested in producing myself.
Their work has a traditional feel to it while also seeming very modern at the same time. It was their work with books and publications that initially caught my interest as they seem perfectly balanced between type and image, something I really want to learn more about in the future.
The fact that they're based in Toronto is also appealing to me as the creative scene there at the moment is pretty incredible. I first realised that this was something that intrigued me when I realised that I like a lot of artists from the Toronto area and there is a distinctive, what is being called, 'Toronto sound'. As well as music the photography community there at the moment is possibly the most active in the world, it's definitely up there with New York, and I admire a lot of photographers from the city. Because of this I definitely think that I could email Blok to find out more information about them and their place in the industry.
