OUGD502 Studio Brief 1 | Ben Brown

Ben Brown is an English film-maker and photographer that focuses on travel-based imagery. He provides a slight insight as to what it's like to be a freelance creative through his daily YouTube videos where he shares his life, his work ethic and his hobbies. This is helpful as he often talks about how he got to where he is and what it takes to get there.

His short-film series 'Visual Vibes' is cinematography based and showcases a certain trip or place. Last summer I took this concept and designed a publication for his photography with the same name and emailed him to see if this was something that he had ever thought of doing.

Matt's (Ben's friend and manager) response:

Hey Dan,

I’m currently back in SA, and our internet here sucks. Like, it sucks a lot. So basically I clicked your links 20 minutes ago and stuff is still loading. Anyway, what I’ve seen so far the  publication looks awesome, and it’s almost identical to what I personally had in mind in terms of a magazine or something that Ben and I were planning on putting out next year some time. From what I can see, you really know what you’re doing. I will definitely forward this on to Ben so he can have a look at it, and once I think he’s had a look there will definitely be potential to work with you in the future if we do end up planning a magazine release if you’re up for it.

This is definitely something that I would want to go ahead with if they were ever going to do so and needed a designer. Although Ben's work does inspire me and is certainly creative, I don't think it includes enough graphic design for me to conduct a good enough interview that fits the criteria for the creative report part of this brief.
